What is Cholesterol?


Cholesterol is a substance that exists in your blood which is fatty. It is essential to every cell in your body, however to much of this can lead to cardiovascular disease.

Understanding the Harmful type of Cholesterol


There are 2 types of cholesterol; LDL (Low-Density lippoprotein), the harmful type, and HDL (High-Density lippoprotein), the protective type. LDL cholesterol is present in foods with saturated fats.

Causes of High Cholesterol


The most common cause of high cholesterol is eating to much saturated fat. However some people suffer from it even when they have a balenced and healthy diet. Then there is a chance that they have inherited a condition known as familial hyperlipidaemia (FH). If you think you might have this thanyou should consult you GP/Doctor for guidence.

How to Reduce Cholesterol


  • Simply eat less saturated fat
  • Have a high-fibre diet like oats, beans and pulses
  • Regualar exersise
